I would like to know what route you are taking through Iowa. There is a group of us who would like to offer food, shelter, support, etc. for you when you travel through our state. I am in Iowa City and wondered if you’d be anywhere close to us. If you could let me know, I’d be happy to get some things arranged for you while you pass through. I’ve been listening to your conversations with John Williams on WGN and am so amazed by your faith and courage. Let me know if we can help. Lynne Westphal
I am from Denver CO, and I want to represent my “hood” in this walk. How do I go about being formally added to the list of participants. I am also a bit confused about how I can get people to sponsor me. Should I have them donate directly to the Project Hood web page and put my name in the subject line, or should I have them write a check? (Do you have a sponsorship letter?) Please let me know when you are able. I am very pumped up about this cause and have already begun training. God Bless!

Recently Darryl Duncan penned a song called “18″ which is dedicated to the memory of Trayvon Martin and ALL the young lives cut short by violence. I suggest that we use this song as a rallying cry to bring massive attention the Trayvon Martin case as as well to publicize the daily loss of life in our neighborhoods across the country, which must be addressed urgently.
As for myself I’m already started, I have been pushing and sharing with bloggers, with friends on facebook and google plus and via email in an effort to get them sharing and talking about the song and the situation. You can see my blogpost (which is evolving with time) at:

or just watch the song on youtube at-

I am not involved with the authors of this song and have no personal interests
economically with anyone involved with it. That said, if they do profit by the spread of this song, that, IMO can only serve as an example to some of our creative young composers that there is a place for positive Black music.
I’m an oldtimer from the movements of the sixties and I know the power that the right music can add to an effort such as this.
